3) Conduct Training Sessions/Growers’ Meetings
Because of the small number of growers participating in the project and to
better accommodate their schedules, the PI usually met individually with the
growers instead of scheduling formal growers’ meetings. Early in the project,
all the growers were provided with copies of the MVSG Drug and Alcohol Policies
and Time Sheets on which to document their in-kind contributions of labor. The
PI talked regularly with the participants by phone or in person, and received
regular accountings of their activities.
Jack Blake provided instruction in all phases of
construction of the nurseries. Much of the instruction involved demonstration of
construction techniques and was conducted in Mr. Blake’s garage workshop.
Actual assembly of the nursery units was carried out collectively at the
Edgartown Town Barn, where Mr. Blake supervised and provided instruction.
